Micromax to launch four 4G smartphones with Google Duo pre-installed

According to a report Micromax will soon launch four affordable 4G smartphones in India ahead of the festive season, to cash in on the booming demand for LTE devices.

The phones will belong to a new "Video" series and will come pre-installed with Google's Duo voice calling app. They will all be priced below Rs. 6,700.

To recall, Google announced Duo at its I/O event in May and released it for Android and iOS devices last month. Duo is a simple voice calling app that competes with Apple's Facetime and Skype and has already crossed 10 million download on Android devices, with U.S and India being among the top countries.

Following the launch of Reliance Jio's 4G services, sales of 4G phone have grown significantly in the country. According to research firm IDC, 15.4 million 4G smartphones were shipped in January-March 2016 quarter – a growth of more than six times over the same period last year.
