OnePlus X gets Android Marshmallow with OxygenOS 3.1.2 update


OnePlus has finally released Android Marshmallow update for the OnePlus X in the latest OxygenOS 3.1.2 stable update. Apart from Marshmallow the update also includes new features, general bug fixes and October Android security patch.

The whole update weighs around 760MB is being rolled out over the air in phases, so it may take some time before it reaches all OnePlus X units. You can also manually flash the update by downloading the OTA zip from here.

Here's what OxygenOS 3.1.2 brings to the OnePlus X.
  • Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow upgrade
  • Launcher upgrades: New icon packs; Google search bar UI customization; New design of wallpaper picker
  • Shelf UX improvements: Long press boards to rearrange or remove
  • General system performance improvement
  • Settings changes: New (native Android) app permissions; New Alert Slider settings with more customization options
  • New apps: OnePlus Music Player, OnePlus Gallery
  • Implemented October Android security patches
  • General bug fixes
In related, OnePlus executives in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session revealed that the company is actively working on bringing Android 7.0 Nougat for its latest flagship killer the OnePlus 3. Exact timeline for the roll out of Nougat is still not known.
