Xiaomi sells 2.3 million units of Redmi Note 3 in India, becomes best selling phone online


Back in March this year, Xiaomi launched its highly-anticipated mid-range smartphone, the Redmi Note 3 in India starting at Rs. 9,999 for the 2GB RAM/16GB storage model.

Today the Chinese smartphone maker announced that it has sold more than 2.3 million (23 lakh) units of Redmi Note 3 in the country, making it the number one best selling smartphone online till date. In order to celebrate the milestone, Xiaomi is running a contest, that allows you to win Rs. 100 coupons or Redmi Note 3 by playing a game. In the game, you are asked to type the sentence given by Xiaomi in less than seven seconds.

Last month, according to IDC (India's monthly smartphone tracker), Xiaomi reportedly shipped 1.75 million units of Redmi Note 3 in just five months since its launch in the country. This means the company sold an additional 555,000 units of Redmi Note 3 in the last one month. It was also the highest-shipped smartphone for online platform in the country in any given quarter (880,000 units in Q2 2016).

Apart from the 2GB RAM/16GB storage model, there's another version with 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage priced at Rs. 11,999. As for the other specs, the Redmi Note 3 has 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 650 SoC, 16MP/5MP cameras, 4G VoLTE, fingerprint scanner and 4100mAh battery. The Redmi Note 3 can be purchased from Amazon India, Mi.com, Snapdeal, Paytm and other online stores.
