Airtel launches 100Mbps V-Fiber broadband service

Airtel has launched its new V-Fiber broadband service in Chennai, which offers speeds up to 10Mbps. The new fixed wireline broadband is based on vectorisation, which is Europe's number one fixed broad technology. Airtel claims to be first operator in India to use this technology.

The teleco says it has upgraded local exchanges with equipment to handle fiber speeds. It also said that V-Fiber broadband service does not require new wiring or drilling in a users house, instead works on the existing Airtel broadband wireline. However, a new modem upgrade is required.

Existing Aitel broadband users can upgrade to V-Fiber service with their current plan and enjoy high-speed data at no extra monthly cost. In case  users are not happy with the new service, within the first month, Airtel will refund the new modem charges and the amount will be adjusted in their next billing cycle. For new broadband connections, Airtel is offering unlimited three month trial offer with 100mbps speed.

In addition Airtel also announced that unlimited free calling that was earlier available with select broadband plans has now been extended to all subscribers. Users can now make free unlimited voice calls to any networks across the country with any broadband plan they have. Earlier Airtel started offering myHome rewards, under which users can avail additional data of 5GB/month for every other Airtel connection they have in the home, be it postpaid mobile or DTH.

Airtel's V-Fiber service is part of the company's nationwide network trasnformative initiative called Project Leap. The service is currently live in Chennai, and will launch in Delhi & NCR and Bengaluru in the coming weeks. It will also be deployed across 87 cities across the country soon.
