Acer Chromebook R13 now supports Android apps (beta channel)

Google has already added support for Google Play Store and Android apps for Google Chromebook Pixel, Acer Chromebook R11 and Asus Chromebook Flip. The latest Chromebook to join the list is Acer's Chromebook R13. It is getting full support for Google PlayStore and Android apps in the Chrome OS beta channel via Chrome OS v55.

To get Play Store and Android app support you'll have to be on the beta channel. To enable this, go to Chrome settings menu, click on  "About Chrome OS" and then switch to beta channel option. Once the update is downloaded, you will have to reboot your Chromebook and follow instructions for signing into Google Play Store, using the same account, you use to sign into your Chromebook.

The support on the stable channel is expected to hit the Chromebook R13 in December.

To refresh, the Acer Chromebook R13 features 13.3-inch Full HD touch screen display, quad-core MediaTek MT8173C processor with PowerVR GX6250 GPU, 4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage. It includes WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, USB Type-C port, HDMI ports and  4670mAh battery.

The 32GB storage model of Chromebook R13 sells for $399, while the 64GB storage model is up for pre-order for $430 in the U.S.
