Pixel phone owners are receiving distorted iPhone 7 Plus screenshots

A mysterious bug is affecting Google Pixel and Pixel XL users since the past few weeks, and it has to do with images sent from Apple's iPhone 7 Plus.

Several Pixel and Pixel XL users are reporting that when ever they receive images from iPhone 7 Plus, they look distorted. The problem is limited to iPhone 7 Plus, as images sent from iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 are said to look fine.

The image distortion issue appears when a screenshot is sent from a standard SMS/MMS app or in Hangouts. Furthermore, the distortion only happens when screen shots are taken inside any app be it first party or third party on iPhone, and does not appear when screen shots are taken from the iPhone's home screen.

However this does not happen the other way round, when Pixel users send an image to iPhone 7 Plus. Apart from Pixel phones, the Nexus 6 users running Android 7.1 Nougat are also reporting the same issue. According to some users, the bug is a result of the way Android 7.1 handles image files.

Google is yet to make an official statement on this matter, but the bug fix can be expected shortly. Earlier Pixel users have complained about Bluetooth pairing and LTE connectivity issues with Band 4 as well.
