LG announces 5.7-inch QHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio for flagship G6
LG Display has announced world's first 5.7-inch QHD+ LCD panel with 18:9 aspect ratio, which promises to deliver immersive viewing experiences. It has also been optimized for Android 7.0 Nougat's multi-tasking using dual-screen functions. Unfortunately there is no photo of the display.
The 5.7-inch QHD+ LCD panel has a screen resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels carrying 564 pixel per inches (ppi), which is higher than the regular QHD LCD panels. For comparison the 5.5-inch QHD panel used on LG G4 had 538 ppi, while the LG G5's 5.3-inch QHD display had 554ppi.
LG says the new display uses the company's in-TOUCH technology to make the display more responsive. This also helps the phone to be lighter and thinner due to absence of Touch cover Glass. It will also let smartphones have slimmer bezels as well.
Thanks to the 10 percent increase in transmittance, the outdoor visibility of the new display has been improved. Further, the power consumption has been reduced by 30 percent.
LG says that the new 5.7-inch QHD+ LCD display will be used on the company's next flagship, which is most likely to be the LG G6. The phone is expected to be announced at MWC 2017.
