Sony's MWC event scheduled for February 27

Nokia, LG, Motorola and Huawei have already confirmed their presence at this year's MWC, with dedicated events taking place on February 26, a day before MWC doors open. Joining the bandwagon is Sony. The company has scheduled an event on February 27, which is the first day of MWC to unveil new Xperia devices.

If rumor is to be believed Sony will unveil two mid-range smartphones which are codenamed G3112 and G3221 featuring MediaTek's Helio P20 processor and Android Nougat. One of these devices is expected to be the successor of XA.

As for the specs, a recent AnTuTu listing revealed that Sony G3221 will feature 1080p display (5.5-inch), Helio P20 chip, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 23MP rear camera and 16MP front camera.

The Sony G3112 will also feature MediaTek Helio P20 chip, Android Nougat, but the display (5 or 5.2-inch) will have a lower screen resolution of 720p or HD (1280 x 720 pixels). Both smartphones will most likely have USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and fingerprint scanner.

Besides smartphones, Sony might also introduce accessories or wearables. The event starts at 8:30am CET (1pm IST) on February 27 in Barcelona, and will be livestream on Sony's website.
