Unlocked HTC One A9 gets Android Nougat in the U.S

HTC has announced that it will roll out Android 7.0 Nougat to the mid-ranger One A9 in the U.S starting today. The announcement was made by Mo Versi, HTC's VP of product management. The update will be available for the the unlocked versions, but it is not clear when carrier models will receive it.

As mentioned earlier the update is being rolled out in the U.S and we expect it to be available in other parts of the world in the coming weeks.  Android Nougat brings new features like improved notification bar, Night Mode, Multi-windows mode, bug fixes and system enhancements along with latest Android security patch.

The HTC One A9 was the first smartphone to ship with Android Marshmallow, however it is heavily criticized for the broken promise of receiving latest OS update just 15 days after Nexus devices.

Apart from One A9, HTC has already rolled out Android Nougat for HTC 10 and One M9. These were the only devices promised by HTC to get Nougat, so it will be interesting to see whether the company is considering to update its other devices.
