Xiaomi India sets new record, sells 250,000 Redmi Note 4 in 10 minutes


Xiaomi continues to make waves in India, the latest with its recently launched budget smartphone killer Redmi Note 4.

The Chinese smartphone maker has announced that it has sold more than 250,000 units of Redmi Note 4 on Flipkart and Mi.com in just 10 minutes during the first sale, which took place yesterday.

Xiaomi claims that it created a new record in online sales by selling the largest number of devices in just 10 minutes, making it the biggest ever online-only smartphone launch in the country till date. The company also revealed that the Redmi Note 4 witnessed more than 3x and 5x quantity of the first sale of Redmi 3S and Redmi Note 3 respectively.

If Redmi Note 4 sales continue at this pace, there is no doubt, it will be the very popular and best-selling smartphone in the country this year, following the success of Redmi Note 3, which sold over 2.3 million units in the country in 2016.

To recap Xiaomi launched the metal-clad Redmi Note 4 in India last week in three variants ㅡ 2GB RAM/32GB storage at Rs. 9,999, 3GB RAM/32GB storage at Rs. 10,999 and 4GB RAM/64GB storage at Rs. 12,999. It features 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 625 processor, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 4G VoLTE support, fingerprint scanner and a 4100mAh battery. It ships with Android Marshmallow based MIUI 8, but Xiaomi has promised Nougat update soon.

The Redmi Note 4 will go on sale again on January 30 on Flipkart and February 3 on Mi.com in Gold and Dark Gray hues. There's also a Matter Black hue, that will be available some time in third week of February.
