Amazon Echo likely to launch in India later this year
Amazon have been aggressively expanding its India operations. The e-tailer last year launched Amazon Prime and Prime Video services in India. Now it looks like the company is planning to bring Echo smart speaker in the country soon.
Amazon's Echo is a wireless speaker powered by artificial intelligence voice assistant Alexa, that can listen to your commands and responds to your questions or queries. The voice activated speaker costs $180 and is available in the U.S and Europe market.
According to FactorDaily citing sources reports that, Amazon is planning to launch the Echo in India in second half of 2016. The company has already started the process of putting together contents for localizing the service, the report said.
The Amazon Echo speaker was launched back in 2014 and comes with Alexa integration and microphones. You can command Alexa to play music, set reminders, order food, or ask for the latest new, weather updates and more. Google also has its own version of Amazon Echo-like product called Google Home, that comes with Google Assistant, and offers the same functionality.
