Moto Mod with slider QWERTY keyboard in the works


Android smartphones with slide out QWERTY keyboards are a rear species in the market. But if you want to get one currently there's the BlackBerry Priv with a hefty price tag.

That said, Motorola is having a solution for that thanks to the Moto Mods platform. The Lenovo owned company will soon release a Moto Mod with slide out QWERTY Keyboard for the Moto Z series.

The  QWERTY keyoard slider Mod has a dedicated page on Indiegogo and is listed as coming soon. Similar to previous Moto Mods, the new accessory is also designed to attach to the Moto Z line-up via powerful magnetic pins.

As seen in the image, the new Keyboard Mod has five rows of keys with the top line being number, and the next three the alphabet keys. The Mod will also pack a 2100mAh battery to to give the phone additional juice, and if the project manages get enough backers, the accessory will get support for Qi wireless charging.

In related news Lenovo's (owner of Motorola) General Manager, Middle East for smartphones, Sharay Shams in an interview to The Express Tribune told that the company plans to introduce at least 12 new Moto Mods this year. He also said that the Mods will be compatible with Motorola's Moto Z line up for the next three years.
