Samsung Pay Mini announced for Android smartphones

Samsung has announced Samsung Pay Mini, the company's new mobile payment service, which will offer online payments services to all Android powered smartphones via a dedicated app.

Unlike Samsung Pay, which is limited to Galaxy smartphones, Samsung Pay Mini will support any Android based smartphones running Android Lollipop and having 1280 x  720 pixel resolution display.

With Samsung Pay Mini any Android smartphone users can use Samsung Pay services such as lifestyle, membership and transportation, as well as online payment. However, offline payments will not be available, as the functionality depends on MST technology, which is available only on Samsung's high-end Galaxy smartphones.

Samsung has also integrated a new shopping and rewards service with Samsung Pay Mini for customers in home country. The reward service allows customers to earn points when making payments to participating outlets, which can be exchanged for coupons.

Samsung Pay Mini will launch in South Korea sometime in Q1, 2017. Ahead of official launch, Samsung will be conducting pre-trails of the service on February 6 with Samsung Card in South Korea, that will allow users to download the demo version of the Samsung Pay Mini app from Google Play Store.
