250,000 Redmi 4A sold out in four minutes


Xiaomi's latest phone, the Redmi 4A went on sale for the first time in India today via Amazon India and Mi.com, and unsurprisingly, the company claims that it sold a record 250,000 units of the phone in just four minutes.

The company also claimed that the Redmi 4A witnessed huge interest with over 5 million hits per minute, peak 1500 orders per second and orders spiked a record 1500 per second during the sale. It also witnessed over one million "notify me" alerts from customers following the March 20 launch.

To recap the specs, the Redmi 4A is priced at an affordable Rs. 5,999 and features 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 425 chip, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 13MP/5MP cameras and 3120mAh battery.

Earlier this month Xiaomi announced that it sold over one million units of Redmi Note 4 in the country since launch, in just 45 days. India is becoming a crucial market for Xiaomi, where it is enjoying success. It is the number one online smartphone brand, and even made it to the list of top five smartphone vendors in the country.

Xiaomi is also becoming more aggressive in expanding its smartphone portfolio in the country. Following the launch of Redmi 4A, Xiaomi announced that the company will launch the successor of Redmi 3S as well in the country soon.
