Montblanc's Summit is the latest luxury Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch


German luxury brand Montblanc has forayed into the smart wearable market with the Montblac Summit, its first luxury smartwatch running Android Wear 2.0.

The Montblanc Summit offers a classic and vintage look and is equipped with most advanced technologies in the market. It is made of premium materials such as stainless steel and titanium to give the feeling of a mechanical watch on the wrist.

Montblanc says the summit offers more than 300 different design combinations. It has a 46mm case that come in choice of four different materials and styles — black PVD coated stainless steel, a bi-color stainless steel case with a black PVD coated stainless steel bezel, stainless steel case with satin finish, and a grade 5 titanium case also with satin finish. Each timepiece is fitted with a pusher in the design of the iconic crown from the 1858 collection.



There is a choice of eight different straps — A sporty, water-resistant and excellent grip Rubber NATO strap is available in black, blue, green or red; a black calfskin leather strap; a brown or navy blue Sfumato calfskin leather strap from the Montblanc Pelletteria in Florence, Italy and an exclusive alligator strap.  Straps can be easily exchanged via the quick-release spring bars for a multitude of looks and moods. 

The Summit sports 1.39-inch (400 x 400 pixels) AMOLED touch display that delivers vivid and brilliant colors. The AMOLED display is covered by a curved sapphire glass, a world-first in smartwatches. It is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and Google Assistant.

The smartwatch is  resistant to water and dust thanks to the IP68 rating, and includes WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity to pair with the smartphone and provide notification for incoming calls and messages and reminders about appointments.

It also has a microphone for voice commands and feature numerous sensor like heart rate monitor; sensors for measuring steps and activities; gyroscope and a compass; barometer to indicate altitude; and ambient light sensor to automatically set the brightness of the screen depending on the lighting conditions. The watch is fueled by 300mAh battery. 

The Montblanc Summit will be be available from May 2017 starting at $890 (Rs. 58,000).
