ZTE Axon 7 is getting Android 7.1.1 update

ZTE pushed Android Nougat to its last year flagship Axon 7 last month, that along with Nougat goodies, added support for Google's Daydream VR platform. Now one month later, the Axon 7 is being updated to Android 7.1.1 in the U.S

Android 7.1.1 for ZTE Axon 7 brings T-Mobile WiFi calling support, new emojis, ability to send gifs directly from keyboard, optimizations to Daydream, along with performance improvements, bug fixes and updates Google's Android security patch level to February 2017.

Here's the full list of changes
  • T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling support – T-Mobile Axon 7 users will now be able to send and receive both calls and text messages over Wi-Fi.
  • More ways to communicate – Adds all gender-equal emojis, representing a wider range of professions for both men and women | Send GIFS directly from keyboard on supported apps.
  • Daydream update & optimization
  • Google security patches updates through Feb 2017
  • Miscellaneous performance improvements and bug fixes.
It's worth mentioning that ZTE Axon 7 is one of the first non-Google phones to receive Android 7.1.1. Yesterday, OnePlus also released the same update to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. More OEMs are expected to push the update to their device in the coming days.
