Amazon Fire HD 8, Fire HD 8 Kids Editon tablets announced, starts at $79.99
Alongside, Fire 7, Amazon also announced Fire HD 8 tablet. It has the same specs as the 2016 model, but the starting price has been lowered by $10.
The Fire HD 8 tablet comes with 8-inch 1280 x 800 pixels IPS display, and is powered by quad-core 1.3GHz processor with 1.5GB RAM, and will be offered in two storage options: 16GB or 32GB. The storage is expandable (up to 256GB) via microSD card. Other specs include 2MP rear camera, VGA front camera, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack and integrated speaker with Dolby Audio.
Like the Fire 7 tablet, the Fire HD 8 supports Alexa digital assistant to give you quick access to the entertainment you want. You can ask Alexa questions, check your calendar, play music and videos, read audiobooks, set timers, get the news and weather, and even control your smart home.
It promises up to 12 hours of battery life under mixed usage like reading, surfing the web, watching video or listening to music. It has a thickness of 9.7mm and weighs 369g, and comes in Black, Marine Blue, Punch Red and Canary Yellow color.
The 16GB version of Fire HD 8 tablet price is set at $ $79.99 and the 32GB variant costs $109.99.
There's also Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet priced at $129.99. It comes with 32GB on-board storage, a year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited (offers more than 15,000 books, videos, educational apps, and games), a kid-proof case, parental control and 2-year worry free-guarantee. The rest of the specs are similar to the regular Fire HD 8 tablet. The tablet will be offered in blue, pink and yellow hues.
The Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet is now available for pre-order from Amazon in the US and will start shipping on June 7.
