HP and Intel are working on Cortana powered speakers

Few days back Microsoft and Harman Kardon introduced Invoke, the first voice-activated speaker featuring Cortana to take on Google's Home and Amazon's Echo smart speakers, who are the current market leaders. 

Now two new hardware manufacturers, HP and Intel are also collaborating with Microsoft to build Cortana-enabled smart devices.

Microsoft at its Build 2017, announced that HP will work on integrating Cortana into devices, while Intel will focus on reference design, that can be adopted by third party companies, to make Cortana-enabled devices. No other details were revealed about these devices.

However, Cortana has one major disadvantage over its rivals. Unlike Google's Assistant and Amazon's Alexa, Cortana's skill set is limited. Currently, there's only a few skills being tested including DarkSky, Dominos's Pizza, Food Network, TuneIn, iHeartRadio to name a few, but Microsoft is looking to extend the skill set with a new program.

Microsoft is launching public preview of Cortana skill set, which allows developers to create Cortana powered apps and programs across Android, iOS, Windows 10 and Invoke speaker. The Cortana Skills kit is currently available in the U.S. only.
