LG announces upgraded G6 variants: G6+ with 128GB storage, wireless charging, and a new 32GB G6
LG has announced new variants of its flagship G6 in home market of South Korea. The first one is LG G6+, that comes with 128GB storage, and supports Qi wireless charging. The second one is a 32GB version of LG G6. To recall, the LG G6 shipped with 64GB on-board storage, but now you're getting more options of 32GB and 128GB storage.
Moreover, the new G6 variants will arrive in new colors. The LG G6+ will be offered in new color variants including Optical Astro Black, Optical Terra Gold and Optical Marine Blue color. With the new paint job, the back of the phone changes in color when the light is reflected on it at a certain angle since they are coated with lenticular film to deliver mesmeric optical effect.
The 32GB LG G6 will also be offered in two new colors alongside Mystic White including Optical Marine Blue and Optical Terra Gold. At launch the regular G6 was offered in Mystic White, Astro Black and Ice Platinum colors.
Apart from new storage options, support for wireless charging and new color options, the new G6+'s (and 32GB G6) specs will be same as the 64GB storage. They will have 5.7-inch QHD+ Full Vision (aspect ratio of 18:9) display, Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB RAM, Android Nougat (w/ LG UX 6.0), 13MP dual-cameras, 5MP front camera, fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C, NFC, IP68 rating (water and dust resistance) and 3300mAh battery.
LG also announced a new software update to all G6 models, which brings motion recognition for face recognition function, that recognizes user's face, even if the screen is off, a new lower power optimization mode and 'Lens Blind Alert' to warn you when your fingers are covering the lens when taking a photo.
The update also adds features like automatic call recording, which automatically records calls from or to a specific person once you set it up, and fine volume control that lets you adjust the volume when using the Hi-Fi Quad DAC.
The LG G6+ and 32GB G6 will be available through three major domestic carriers in South Korea next month. Pricing will be revealed at launch time.
