WhatsApp for iOS gets albums, photo filters and reply shortcut

Popular messaging app WhatApp has added a couple new features to its app for iPhone users. The update bumps the version to 2.17.30 and brings albums, filters and reply shortcuts.

Now when you send or receive multiple photos or videos consecutively in a conversation, they will be automatically grouped into a single album, instead of multiple-in line photos and videos. The multiple images will be displayed within a tile in the conversation screen.

Next is the photo filter feature, letting you apply a filter to an image, video or GIF before you send it. You will have to swipe up to select a filter after taking or selecting a photo or video that is already on your phone. As of now, you can choose only five filters – pop, B&W, cool, chrome and film, but more filters are expected soon.

Lastly, the new reply shortcut, that makes it easier to reply to a message. You can now swipe right on any individual conversation in thread, to directly reply to it.

These features are exclusive to iOS for now, but are likely to make their way to Android users in the coming days.
