Xiaomi refreshes 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air with Kaby Lake, fingerprint scanner


Xiaomi is refreshing its 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air and now includes more powerful Kaby Lake processor, improved graphics and fingerprint scanner. Details of the laptop were leaked first yesterday, but now it is official.

The Chinese device will offer the new Mi Notebook Air with the option of Intel Core i5-7200U or Core i7-7500U, and the graphics will be handled by NVIDIA's GeForce MX150 graphics with dedicated 2GB GDDR5 memory. It is also getting a fingerprint scanner, which is added on the upper right corner of the trackpad.

For comparison, the original Mi Notebook Air had Intel's sixth-gen Core i5 Sky Lake processor and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics. Apart from these changes, the rest of the specs are same.

The new Mi Notebook Air features 13.3-inch Full HD display, 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB SSD, 1MP HD webcam, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, USB Type-C, WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1. Other specs include 3.5mm audio jack, AKG customised dual 2W speakers with Dolby Audio, additional SSD expansion slot and up to 9.5 hours of battery life.

The new 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air with Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage has been priced at CNY 4999 ($735 | Rs. 47,4000), while the model with Core i5, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage costs CNY 5499 ($808 | Rs. 52,000). It will go on sale starting June 18 in China in Silver color.

The pricing and availability of the Core i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage variant is yet to be announced.
