Leak reveals possbile design, specs and pricing of Xiaomi Redmi 5


Xiaomi is readying to release the successor of the popular Redmi 4, if a new rumor is to be believed. Dubbed Redmi 5, a series of slide have leaked on China's microblogging platform Weibo showing of the upcoming device, along with its specs sheet and pricing.

According to the leak, the Redmi 5 will have a higher resolution display, more RAM & storage and improved cameras, but slightly smaller battery capacity than the Redmi 4. 

It will feature 5.5-inch screen and get Full HD (1080p) screen resolution, instead of HD used on Redmi 4. It will come in multiple variants featuring 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 or 2.2GHz Snapdragon 630 Mobile platform; 3GB or 4GB RAM and 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage.




The camera department is expected to have 16MP PDAF-assisted rear camera with dual-tone LED flash and 5MP front shooter for seflies. It have hybrid dual-SIM slot, rear mounted fingerprint scanner, and support 4G LTE (Category 12 LTE modem), VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS for connectivity.

The Redmi 4 had a 4100mAh battery, but the Redmi 5 is said to come with a slightly smaller 3680mAh battery, and get support for Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. It will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat based MIUI 9.

Xiaomi is yet to reveal when it will officially unveil the Redmi 5, but with the MIUI 9 release scheduled for next month, it can be expected the device will be presented at the same time.
