Moto Z is now receiving Android 7.1.1

Motorola released Android Nougat for its first semi-modular smartphone Moto Z back in November last year (December in India). Now almost eight months later, it has started rolling out Android 7.1.1 to the device. It's worth mentioning that the second member of the Moto Z line, the Moto Z Play started receiving Android 7.1.1 last month.

The update with build number NPL26.118-20 is currently live over-the-air for users in Hong Kong, Indonesia and Brazil. Other regions is also expected to get it soon. To check for the update, go to Settings -> About -> System Update. 

Android 7.1.1 for Moto Z brings July Android Security patches, along with bug fixes and performance enhancements, as well as native Android 7.1.1 features like new emoji, rounded icons, GIF keyboard support and support for app shortcuts. The update also upgrades, Moto Mods platform to the version 2.0 and installs Google's Duo video calling app.

Motorola advises that there should be atleast 50 percent battery available before starting the process, and connected to a WiFi network. 

To recap the specs, the Moto Z features 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB expandable storage, 13MP/5MP cameras and 2600mAh battery. Also it dosen't have a 3.5mm audio jack, instead offers USB Type-C port for audio output.
