Xiaomi Mi 5X with iPhone 7 Plus like design reportedly launching this month


Xiaomi is reportedly planning to introduce a new sub-brand called Lanmi (Blue Rice) to compete against Oppo, Huawei and vivo in China. Now details of what is said to be the first device under the new lineup has leaked online. According to the leak, it will be a mid-range device but have a premium design.

Dubbed Xiaomi 5X, it will have dual-rear cameras, and the setup is similar to that of iPhone 7 Plus and OnePlus 5. The rear cameras will be assisted by dual-tone LED flash, and one of the dual-cameras will have optical zoom. It will sport curved unibody metal design with the antenna line running at the top and bottom, same like iPhone 7.


The Xiaomi Mi 5X is expected to feature 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 625 processor and 4GB RAM. There are also rumors of a second variant featuring Snapdragon 660 chip, 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.

The dual-cameras is said to consist of a Sony IMX386 sensor and a Samsung S5K3M3 CMOS sensor. The selfie camera is a 16MP unit. Other specifications are not known, but it is likely to have a fingerprint scanner and run Android Nougat based MIUI 9. It will be offered in Black and Gold colors.

The smartphone is rumored to launch as Lanmi X1 and carry a price tag of CNY 1999 ($295 | Rs. 19,000). It is expected to be launched on July 26. We'll get to know more about the device in the coming days.
