Xiaomi to roll out MIUI 9 before August 16

Xiaomi few weeks ago confirmed that MIUI 9 is currently in development and now it  finally revealed that the software update will arrive before August 16. 

MIUI 9 will be based on Android 7.0 and Android 7.1 depending on the devices that are eligible to receive it.  It's worth mentioning that the August 16 release of MIUI 9 is for China, and it is not known,when it will be available globally.

There are no details about what MIUI 9 will bring to Xiaomi devices, but the company says it will be more fluid and powerful than previous versions. It is expected to come with Android Nougat's split-screen mode, that lets you run two apps side by side, screen recording and Android O's picture-in-picture mode.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi's product manager had shared screenshots of a theme on MIUI 9 and asked for feedback from users and was mistaken as MIUI 9's sample design. However, Xiaomi has confirmed that the image used is not a screenshot of MIUI 9, and is simply a  theme based on MIUI.
