Honor V9 Play to be announced on September 6 in China

Back in February, Huawei sub-brand Honor introduced the Honor V9 flagship in China boasting high-end features like QHD display, Kirin 960 chip, 6GB RAM and dual-cameras. Now it appears that, an affordable version with mid-range specs of the Honor V9 is on its way. Honor has scheduled an event in China on August 6 to unveil the Honor V9 Play.

The Honor V9 Play was recently certified by China's TENAA, and looks like a toned down version of the Honor V9 aimed at mid-range segment. Design wise, the phone has metal back, but the top and bottom parts are made of plastic. There's a single camera at the back, and below it sits the fingerprint scanner.

As per the listing Honor V9 Play features 5.5-inch Full HD display, octa-core Kirin 659 processor, 4GB RAM, single 12MP camera and 5MP front facing camera. It will boot Android Nougat.

It is rumored to be priced CNY 1500 ($228 | Rs. 14,500). We should know more details next Wednesday, when the Honor V9 Play gets official.
