Xiaomi unveils new 1080p PTZ Smart camera


The latest gadget coming out from Xiaomi's Mijia platform is a smart camera for home surveillance. Dubbed 1080p PTZ Smart camera, it is an upgraded version of 720p smart camera, and is capable of recording videos or capture photos at Full HD or 1080p resolution. It also costs less.

The 1080p PTZ Smart Camera sports a rectangular design and rotates 360 degree atop a cicrular base. The camera sensor has an f/2.3 aperture, 120-degree viewing angle, and can rotate 93-degree vertically (up & down).


The camera also includes 940nm IR LED emitter for night vision, and has an 18-step gray-scale restore process that converts night images into clear black and white photos.

Apart from functioning as a security camera for home surveillence, it can also be used as a webcam. It supports WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and includes microSD card slot, and full sized USB-port for flash drives. In addition, you can store video on a cloud service. The camera is compatible with devices running Android 4.0 & up, and iOS 8.0 & up.

The 1080p PTZ camera has been priced at CNY 149 ($22 | Rs. 1,400) and will start shipping September 12 in China.
