AOSP Android 8.0 Oreo available on Sony's Open Devices program


Sony has announced that AOSP (Android Open Source Project) Android 8.0 Oreo is now available on its Open Devices program. The program is aimed at developers who want to fiddle with the software.

This means through the program, developers get access all the available tools and guides to develop custom Android O ROMs for select unlocked Xperia devices.

At the moment six smartphones are supported, which include – the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XZ, Xperia X Performance, Xperia X and Xperia X Compact.

To get started, you'll need to download all the necessary software binaries of the aforementioned smartphone, which is available on Sony's website. Then you have to use the build guide and follow the instructions to build  AOSP Oreo software for the device.
