HTC enters bezel-free territory with the U11+


HTC is going bezel free with its latest flagship U11+, that features top notch specs, while incorporating the U11-like Edge Sense function. It runs Android Oreo based Sense UI with both Alexa and Google Assistant support, and boasts 82 percent screen to body ratio for a near full screen design with slim bezels.

Similar to the HTC U11, the Edge Sense function lets you squeeze the edge of phone to trigger various actions. You can customize Edge sense to launch the camera, summon Google Assistant/Alexa, open any app and much more. Again HTC is ditching the 3.5mm audio jack in favor of USB Type-C, but the phone will ship with USB Type-C headphone with Active Noise Cancellation.

As for the specs, the HTC U11+ features 6-inch QHD+ Super LCD 6 18:9 display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and comes with Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, that's expandable via microSD card. There's also a beefed up version featuring 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The camera department includes 12MP UltraPixel 3 rear camera with dual-LED flash, PDAF, BSI sensor, OIS, f/1.7 aperture and 4K video recording. For selfies there's 8MP f/2.0 front camera. 

In terms of connectivity, the device supports 4G VoLTE, nano SIM, WiFi 802.11ac, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and USB Type-C. It is fueled by 3930mAh battery and supports fast charging with Quick Charge 3.0.

The phone also has IP67 rating for water and dust resistance and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and comes in Ceramic Black, Translucent Black and Amazing Silver.

The HTC U11+ has been priced at £699 ($925 | Rs. 60,000) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, and will be available from November 20 in the U.S. In the Europe, it will cost 799 euros ($930 | Rs. 60,000), but the availability is yet to be announced. That said, the HTC U11+ will not the launch in the U.S, and will be available in Europe, Asia and rest of the world.
