Samsung W2018 flip phone with dual-displays, f/1.5 aperture camera announced

Samsung has unveiled its latest luxury Android Flip phone in China featuring clam shell design with dual screens and top-end hardware: W2018 (SM-W2018). The phone marks 10th anniversary of the W series and 25th anniversary of Samsung in China.

The Samsung W2018 comes with dual 4.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass protection, one on the out and the other inside, so that you can use it even when closed. Inside it has a D-pad and a numeric keypad for navigation. There's also multi-function hotkey in the keyboard.

The flip phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and is equipped with Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM, 64GB/256GB internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card, and a 2300mAh battery.

However, the main highlight of the phone is its camera technology. It ships with 12MP rear camera that's aided by variable aperture tech that uses f/1.5 aperture for low-light shots and f/2.4 aperture from normal shots in day time. This is the first time a phone is utilizing f/1.5 aperture leaving behind LG V30 and Huawei Mate 10's f/1.6 aperture. The rear camera also boasts LED flash dual-pixel auto-focus, PDAF and OIS. For selfies there's 5MP front shooter.

Other features include dedicated bixby button, rear mounted fingerprint scanner, heart rate sensor and supports dual-SIMs (hybrid slot), 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS+GLONASS, NFC and USB Type-C for connectivity.

The Samsung W2018 comes in Gold and Silver hues and will be available exclusively in China via China Telecom. Pricing is not known yet.
