Anil Ambani led RCom (Reliance Communication) has launched a new Rs. 349 plan that offers both data and voice calling benefits for LTE and GSM subscribers.
The plan is called 'Freedom Pack' and offers unlimited voice calls and 1GB per data for 28 days, which users can utilize on all the networks including 2G, 3G and 4G.
However, the voice calls are capped at just 150 minutes per day, which is bit disappointing given that other operators offer 300 minutes per day. Moreover, if you are on a 2G or 3G network, you will get 5GB Max and 23GB 4G Lite data.
That said, this offer is not available for RCom customers in Gujarat.
The telecom operator also announced Rs. 147 and Rs. 193 plan for prepaid customers. The Rs. 147 plan offers only 1GB data per day for 28 days, but no voice call. The Rs. 193 plan also offers similar benefits, but get 30 minutes of free calling every day. Again these plans are not valid of RCom Gujrat customers.

Anil Ambhani owned Reliance Communication and Aircel singed agreements last year (September 2016) for the merger of RCOM's struggling mobile businesses with Aircel. RCOM was expecting a significant debt reduction, once the merger was completed with Aircel. However, that's not happening anymore because, both companies have terminated the deal.
RCOM's board of directors also reviewed the transformation programme and considered alternate plan to reduce debt of its mobile business. This will be done by optimizing spectrum portfolio and focusing on 4G technology, along with selling real estate, tower and fiber business, which is expected to generate proceeds of over Rs. 25,000 crore for debt reduction. RCom is in debt of about Rs 46,000 crore.
The company said that unprecedented competitive intensity in the Indian telecom sector, together with fresh policy directives adversely impacting bank financing for this sector, have also seriously affected industry dynamics. As a result, the merger agreement lapsed.
RCOM has been losing its market share, since the entry of elder brother Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio into the telecom sector, which triggered price wars among telecom operators. It added that unlimited free voice calls and irrational pricing by various telecom operators to gain customers have destroyed profitability of 2G/3G mobile business.
Going forward RCOM will focus on domestic and overseas B2B business, which include enterprise, carrier, internet data and global submarine cable network.

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications (RCom) is out with Rs. 33 pack for its prepaid customers, which offer both data and voice calling benefits for a limited time.
The Rs. 33 has a validity of two days and offers one hour of voice calling to any network and 1GB of 3G/4G data. It's worth mentioning that the Rs. 33 plan is not available for RCom's subscribers in Gujarat, and the price of this plan will vary from circle to circle.
Customers looking for packs with more validity can go for Rs. 147 and Rs. 193 packs. The Rs. 147 pack offers only 1GB of 3G data for 28 days. The Rs. 193 pack also offers 1GB of 3G data for 28 days, but comes with the added benefit of 30 minutes voice call to any number per day during the same period.
There's also a Rs. 765 pack that offers 1GB data per day for 365 days. However, users will have to browse the internet at ultra-slow 2G speed.

On the occasion of the India's 71st Independence day, Reliance Communication (RCom) has launched a special offer for prepaid users called 'Data Ki Azadi'. The Anil Ambani-led teleco's latest offering gives unlimited data usage for 365 days, but there's a catch.
The Data Ki Azadi offer has been priced at Rs. 70, and gives unlimited 2G data for one year. The daily FUP limit on the offer is 1GB of 2G data per day for RCom GSM SIM card users, and 1GB of 2G data per month for RCom LTE SIM card users. Apart from data benefit, the plan also offers talk time of Rs. 56.
This plan is available for a limited period from August 14 to August 16, and is valid on a pan-India basis.
RCom's latest plan is one of the cheapest in the country, but on the downside, it offers the outdated 2G speed instead of LTE, which is 400 times faster.

The new 28 days plan is called "Unlimited India Calling" and offers unlimited calls to any local and STD numbers, including free incoming calls on roaming. Subscribers will also get 300MB of 4G data, just like Mukesh Ambani's Jio. However, unlike Jio's plan, RCom's doesn't include 100 free SMS or unlimited outgoing call while in national roaming.
One benefit RCom subscribers have over Jio's customers is that they wouldn't need a VoLTE capable device, that starts at Rs. 3,000 to enjoy these benefits; a dirt cheap feature phone would do. That said, Reliance Jio is reportedly planning to launch 4G VoLTE enabled feature phones at Rs. 999 to target a larger group (rural areas + tier III cities) early next year.
