Sony announces mid-range Xperia M4 Aqua


Sony launched its water-resistant smartphone Xperia M4 Aqua alongside Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet at MWC 2015 . The handset is priced at EUR 299 (Rs. 20,600) and will be available in maket in Spring this year in more than 80 countries and 100 carriers. It will be available in LTE and dual-SIM variants.

The Xperia M4 Aqua features a 5.2-inch HD (720x1280) display protected by tempered glass and is powered by 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (quad-core 1.5GHz + quad-core 1.0GHz) processor paired with Adreno 405GPU.

The handset has 2GB RAM and is available in 8GB or 16GB storage options. It also has a microSD card slot [supports up to 32GB]. It runs Android Lollipop 5.0 out of the box. The device is dust and water resistant with IP65/8 rating. It can be immersed in water up to 5 feet (1.5-meter) for as long as 30 minutes.

Camera features include 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with Sony Exmor RS mobile image sensor and f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. On the front there is a 5-megapixel camera that has a wide 88-degree field of view.

Connectivity features include  Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, and USB. A 2400mAh battery runs the show which is rated to deliver a talk time of up to 13 hours and standby time of up to 779 hours.

The Xperia M4 Aqua measures 145.5x72.6x7.3mm and weighs 140 grams. It will be available in Black, White or Coral Colour options.
