CES 2015 : Intel Unveils Curie, A Brand New Wearable Processor

Intel's CEO Brian Krzanich at the comapny's keynote address unveiled Intel's curie module - a brand new wearable processor which he held with two fingers in front of the audience at CES 2015, Las Vegas. The 'Curie' is so tiny as it was barely visible to the audience during on-stage demonstration. It resembles the size and shape of a button.

The button-sized 'Curie' can go into just about anything we slip on or strap to ourselves like ring, band, bags, bracelets, pendants and watch to name a few. It's also low power—a crucial feature for slim gadgets that couldn’t possibly house a giant battery.

The 'Curie' comes with Intel's Quark SE SoC which is a small sized chipset which comes with a 32-bit lower power mico-controller that has 384KB flash memory and 80KB SRAM. It has accelerometer, gyroscope and Bluetooth LE and is meant to keep track of gestures and movements. The 'Curie' can be powered by coin cells like those used in watch.

The Intel 'Curie' will be available in second half of 2015 as it is still waiting for US FCC authorisation.
