Windows 10 January Technical Preview Build 9926 Is Available Now

Microsoft today released the latest January Windows 10 build for members of the Windows insider program. Those who have enrolled for the Windows Insider program can now update or install for the first time Windows 10 January Technical preview. If you have not yet enrolled in the Windows Insider Program, you can visit Microsoft's page to get started http://insider.windows.com.

The update can be downloaded from windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-download. The update is also available to existing users of windows 10 through update process.

Microsoft warns you before trying out the technical preview-
  • Remember, trying out an early build like this can be risky. That's why we recommend that you don't install the preview on your primary home or business PC. Unexpected PC crashes could damage or even delete your files, so you should back up everything.
  • After you install Windows 10 Technical Preview, you won’t be able to use the recovery partition on your PC

The new features that will be available in Windows 10 January Technical preview include Xbox App, Cortana, Action Center, new universal app, new icons and designs, new smartswap mode and Continuum.

Cortana will now be built into Windows 10 with which you can set reminders, search for information stored of the PC, tablets or the Web, via voice or text input

With Contunuum feature users can switch between Tablet and PC mode with a touch of a button, making apps full screen or windowed.

New universal apps inlcude outlook, photo and maps which are all overhauled with new features and design.
    Note that Cortana is currently available in U.S. English (Available only In U.S.)

    Other features like Project Spartan browser and the new touch Office suite will not be available in this build of the Technical preview. It will be available in the following months though Insider program.

    To upgrade from the current build of Windows 10 Technical preview click Start > PC setting > Update and recovery > Preview Builds > Check Now. Click download and the installer should start after the download's finished. The update is being rolled out in slow and fast rings.

    If you’re running Windows Technical Preview build 9879, install the feed-switching KB 3025380 so that your PC is set to get the new build.

    You can also download the Windows 10 ISO file and install it manually from windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso.
