Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 with 5.1mm thickness launched for Rs. 17,999
Micromax at itd #Jailbreak event in India, launched the company's flagship device dubbed Canvas Silver 5. It is made out of aircraft-grade aluminum and comes with a matte finish at the back.
The company claims it to be the world's slimmest smartphone with its 5.1mm end-to-end waistline without any bumps and weighs 97g. To recall the previous record holder, Coolpad Ivvi K1 sports 4.7mm thickness and features a camera bump that increases the phone overall slimness.
The Micromax Canvas Silver 5 features 4.8-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) AMOLED Full Lamination display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood there is an 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor paired with Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB DDR3 RAM. The phone comes with 16GB internal storage but doesn't feature expandable storage support and runs. It runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
The Canvas Silver 5 sports 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Sony IMX219 sensor, 4p Largan Lens and supports 1080p video recording. On the front there is a 5-megapixel shooter for taking selfies and video calling.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is fuelled by 2000mAh battery which Micromax claims offer 8 hours of talktime and 345 hours of standby. It also houses NXP Smart PA audio chip for deeper bass effect and Dirac HD audio technology for an enhanced audio experience. It comes in either Black or Gold exteriors.
Micromax's Canvas Silver 5 is priced at Rs. 17,999 and will be available via online and offline stores across the country by first week of July. Micromax also introduced its new service policy for the Canvas Sliver 5 dubbed 'M! On-site Care' which promises consumers a doorstep pickup and drop in 7 days.
Micromax's brand ambassador, Hugh Jackman, who previously promoted the Canvas Knight, is back on board to promote the Canvas Silver 5. The first ad is expected to hit the TV screen in the coming days.
