Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 expected to launch on June 29

Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun revealed details about the announcement of the successor to the aging Redmi Note. Jun revealed via Weibo (Chinese equivalent of Twitter) that that the Redmi Note 2 will be announced on June 29. He also shared a screenshot of the home screen which is likely from the Redmi Note 2.

The June 29 launch date is in line with Xiaomi's roadmap which surfaced online last month that claimed the Redmi Note 2 will launch in July. We can expect that the Redmi Note 2 will go on sale in July.

Just a few days back a Xiaomi device, reportedly to be the Redmi Note 2 passed China's Quality Certification Centre. The listing revealed that the phone will support TD-LTE connectivity. It sports 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and powered by MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor.

The Redmi Note 2 will be equipped with 13-megapixel rear (Samsung’s S5K3M2 sensor) and 5-megapixel front (OmniVision’s OV5670 sensor) camera. It runs Android 5.0 or 5.1 Lollipop with MIUI on top and is fuelled by 3000mAh battery. Other rumors buzzing is that the phone will be made out of metal and not plastic like the Redmi Note first gen.
