Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0, Tab S2 9.7 with QXGA Super AMOLED displays, 5.6mm slim frame gets official

Samsung announced it latest Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab S2. It comes in two screen variants - 8-inch and 9.7-inch. The tablets have super slim 5.6mm frames making it 0.4mm slimmer than Dell Venue 8 7000, making it the world's thinnest tablet. Galaxy Tab S2 sports a sturdy build with metal frames running around the edges and plastic rear panels. There is also a WiFi and 3G variant.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 features 8-inch (2048×1536 pixel) 4:3 QXGA Super AMOLED display. The display offers 94% of Adobe RGB color coverage for accurate color output, better than the Tab S. Adaptive Display automatically adjusts gamma, sharpness, and saturation based on the app being used by the user.

Under the hood there is an Octa-core Exynos 5433 (1.9 GHz ＋ 1.3 GHz) processor paired with Mali T760MP6 GPU and 3G LPDDR3 RAM. It comes in two storage variants - 32GB or 64GB. There is also a microSD card slot for storage expansion. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. Camera features include 8-megapixel rear camera and 2.1-megapixel front facing camera. On the connectivity front it supports 4G LTE/3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz/5GHz) MIMO, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS and GLONASS. It is fueled by 4000mAh battery and has a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home buttons.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 features 9.7-inch (2048×1536 pixel) 4:3 QXGA Super AMOLED display and is backed by a 5870mAh battery. Rest of the specs are similar as Tab S2 8.0.

 The Galaxy Tab S2 tablets come preloaded with Microsoft Office Solutions creating and editing documents. The tablets also get free storage of up to 100GB on the cloud via Microsoft's OneDrive for two years.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0-inch, 9.7-inch comes in Black and White color and will roll out globally starting August 2015. There is no word on pricing.
