Windows 10 Home and Pro editions will cost Rs. 7,999 and Rs. 14,999 respectively in India


Just a day ago, Microsoft started the global rollout of Windows 10 in 190 countries as a free upgrade for Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 users.

Now Microsoft has announced the Windows 10 pricing for users who are not eligible for the free upgrade. The Windows 10 Home Edition has been priced at Rs. 7,999 while Windows 10 Pro has been priced Rs. 14,999. The Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro SKUs is now avaulable from Microsoft Store in India. It will also be available to buy online and via retail stores.

There is no information about the pricing of Windows 10 Pro Pack (priced $99 in the U.S). It is meant to enable Windows 10 Home users to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Windows 10 is being called the "most secure Windows ever" by Microsoft, and the Redmond giant says the operating system will be "delivered as a service and kept automatically up-to-date with innovations and security updates." It is also calling Windows 10 the last version of Windows.

  •  Offering enhanced Windows Defender and Smart Screen to help safeguard against viruses, malware and phishing.
  • Windows Hello greets you by name, providing a fast, secured, password-free way to log in.
Commenting on the launch of Windows 10, Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft India said, "Windows 10 is the best Windows ever. Today, Windows 10 will be available across 190 countries as a free upgrade or with new PCs and tablets. It is more personal and more productive. It's safer and more secure. And it's familiar and always up to date. In India, more than 1500 retail stores across the country will help consumers move up to Windows 10."
