The $199 Icon Q Q5.5 is 'your travel super phone'


New York-based Icon Q is known for manufacturing smartphone accessories that include headphone, Bluetooth speakers and QI power banks.

Now the company has entered the handset industry by launching its first smartphone. Called 'Q5.5', the handset is targeted towards travelers. Icon Q on its official website mention  "Open your phone, travel the world. The Q5.5 is a smartphone designed to belong to you, not your carrier.".

The key feature of the Q5.5 is its dual SIM capabilities. It supports 3G GSM, so it can work on any networks in countries around the world. This is a very handy feature for travelers as they can keep their old SIM on one SIM slot, and in the other slot they can add a new locally brought SIM from a country they are visiting. Wherever you go the handset will support foreign SIM cards.

Coming to its specs the Icon Q Q5.5 features a 5.5-inch display that has 720p resolution. It is powered by an octa-core 1.4GHz MediaTek MTK6592M processor.

It houses 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and microSD card slot (supports up to 32GB microSD card). The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Camera department is handled by 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front facing camera. Connectivity features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G. A 2100mAh battery runs the show on Q5.5 which is said to last 5.5 hours.

The Icon Q Q5.5 is priced at $199 (Rs. 12,000) and is currently available to purchase from Icon Q's website Spring.com.
