Lenovo Thinkpad P50 and P70 mobile workstations with Intel Xeon chips announced

Lenovo has announced two mobile workstations in the in the new ThinkPad P series, the ThinkPad P50 and P70. These are aimed at high-end professionals looking for mobile workstations. Both are mil-spec tested for maximum durability and are ISV certified.

The ThinkPad P50 and P70 features 15.6-inch and 17-inch 4K UHD display that comes with X-Rite Pantone color calibration keeping colors accurate throughout the life of the product. They are powered by Intel Xeon E3-1500M v5 processor with NVIDIA Quadro graphics. They are loaded with up to 64GB ECC DDR4 RAM, support for up to four storage device and upto 1TB PCIe SSD. Both the machines run Windows 10 and include DVD-RW drive, which can be removed for an additional SSD up to 512GB or a up to 1TB mechanical drive.

Other features include four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini-Display Port, Gigabith Ethernet, two Intel Thunderbolt 3 ports, an Express card slot, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and a docking connector. The ThinkPad P50 and P70 also features FLEX performance cooling system with dual-fan design offering cooler, quieter and faster performance.

The ThinkPad P50 is packed by a 4 cell, 66Whr battery and weighs 2.5kg. It supports three storage device, one Thunderbolt 3 port and lacks DVD-RW drive. The ThinkPad P70 is backed by 8 cell, 96 Whr battery, measures 1.2-inch think and weighs 3.4kg.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 prices start from $1,599 and the P70 begins at $1,999. They will be available in Q4 2015.
