Amazon Fire, a 7-inch tablet for $50 gets official


Amazon has officially introduced the Amazon Fire, a $50 tablet. It is an entry-level tablet which offers decent specs.

Amazon Fire runs the latest version of Fire OS, called Bellini , a heavily modified version of Android Lollipop with no Google services or apps aboard. The tablet features 7-inch (1024 x 600) IPS display and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB on-board storage. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB. You also get unlimited cloud storage for Amazon content.

For imaging there is 2-megapixel rear-facing HD camera and 0.3-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity options include WiFi, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0. It offers seven hours of battery life on average use and comes in black color only.

The $50 Amazon Fire tablet  available for pre-order, and ships starting September 30. Amazon’s even planning to sell a six-pack of these tablets for just $250—buy five, get one free.
