UMi Fair, a $99 phone with fingerprint sensor


The smartphone industry keeps on evolving day by day. Most of the innovations start by featuring in expensive flagship devices and make their way down to affordable ones. 

That being said, Chinese smartphone maker, UMi managed to pack Fingerprint scanner on to a budget smartphone, while keeping the specs respectable. Dubbed UMi Fair, the company says it will be the most affordable smartphone with a fingerprint sensor. Priced at $99 (Rs. 6,500), UMi Fair will officially launch on September 25.

UMi Fair features 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor coupled with Mali T720 GPU and 1GB RAM. On-board storage is 8GB, further expandable via microSD card. On the backside you will find an 8-megapixel camera with Sony Sensor and dual-LED flash and on the front sits a 2-megapixel camera. The Dual-SIM device runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and supports 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It is fueled by 2250mAh battery and sports metal body.
