The Dell XPS 15 is official, XPS 13 goes Skylake


Earlier this week Dell announced the XPS 15 and a refreshed XPS 13 laptop. The XPS 15 was first showcased at Computex 2015 while the XPS 13 was initially launched at CES 2015. The refreshed model of XPS 13 is equipped with 6th-gen Core 'Skylake' processors. Both the machines run Windows 10.

Dell's XPS 15 sports a carbon fibre weave build and the bezel-less 'InfinityEdge' display. Based on the display, the laptop comes in Full HD resolution or 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) Igzo display. The XPS 15 is equipped with Intel Skylake SoC, starting with Core i3 in the base version, followed by Core i5 and Core i7 clubbed with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and the option of Intel HD graphics or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960m GPU with 2GB GDDR5 RAM.

It can be configured with up to 1TB HDD or 1TB PCIe SSD. It also houses two USB 3.0 ports with powershare, Thunderbolt 3, and full sized SD card reader. The company says that laptops with hard drives would be backed by a 56WHr battery, while versions with M.2 SSD drives would be backed by a 84WHr battery.


The refreshed XPS 13 comes with the latest Intel 'Skylake' Core i5 and Core i7 CPU option along with 16GB RAM. Another addition is the support for M.2 PCIe SSDs up to 1TB in capacity. The battery capacity has also been increased from 52WHr to 56WHr. It also has the bezel-less Infinity display with either 1080p or QHD+ screen. Now it comes with a Thunderbolt 3/USB-C port, in addition to the two full sized USB 3.0 and microSD card slot.

The XPS 15 and XPS 13 prices start at $999 and $799 respectively and is now available for purchase via Dell.com.
