Xiaomi unveils Ninebot mini, a self balancing scooter

In addition to the Mi TV 3, Xiaomi also unveiled its first two-wheeled, self-balancing, and battery-powered electric vehicle, named Ninebot mini. Xiaomi collaborated with Ninebot and Segwey to launch this scooter. The two-wheel self-balancing scooter can be steered using legs, and can spin on the spot.

The Ninebot mini can travel at speeds of up to 16km/h and is capable of climbing 15 degree inclines easily. Xiaomi says that the Ninebot mini is flexible and easy to use due to the high end sensors that continuously capture body movements. In order to maintain balance, it offers 200 times per second dynamic vehicle attitude adjustments. The vehicle analyze leg movements to control the direction for easier and stable traveling.

The Ninebot Mini has been built using aerospace-grade magnesium alloy infrastructure and weighs 12.8kg. On a single charge it can travel up to 22km. It can also be controlled via smartphone app, which will allow users to see speedometer, preferences, traffic data, fault detection, and firmware upgrade.

The Ninebot mini is priced at RMB 1,999 and comes with an optional safety gear priced at RMB 169.
