YU Yuphoria now shipping with stock Android, now available for Rs. 6,499

The YU Yuphoria was launched back in May for Rs. 6,999 and went on sale exclusively on Amazon India at the end of that month.

Now the company has reduced the price of Yuphoria by Rs. 500 and will be available for purchase for Rs. 6,499 via Amazon India. Also the phone is now running stock Android 5.0 Lollipop instead of Cyanogen OS 12 custom ROM.

It seems like YU and cyanogen might be parting ways. Just a few days back Yureka Plus was made available with stock Android 4.4.4 Kitkat (upgradable to Lollipop) and not Cyanogen OS 12. The company has also launched running YU Yunique running stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. All this points out towards a breakup between YU and Cyanogen Inc, though nothing yet is officially confirmed. It is also not known whether users who have purchased older YU devices running Cyanogen will receive future updates or not.

YU is expected to launch a new high-end smartphone soon- the Yutopia- we should know more details about YU and Cyanogen and other matters upon its release.

As for Cyanogen, it has a track record with partnerships going sour. In December last year it cut ties with OnePlus after signing and exclusive deal with YU. Since then OnePlus has moved on to its own Android-based Oxygen OS to run on its devices.

To remind you, Yuphoria comes with 5-inch 720p display, quad-core Snapdragon 410 64-bit SoC, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 8MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 4G LTE supports and 2230mAh battery. It also has Cirrus Logic Wolfson Stereo DAC chipset.
