Garmin vivosmart HR, an activity tracker with wrist-based heart rate monitoring
Recently Garmin launched three new smartwatches, the Garmain Forerunner 230, Forerunner 235 and Forerunner 630, with the company's Elevate heart rate technology. Now Garmin is back with a new fitness product and its an activity tracker.
Called Vivosmart HR, it is a touchscreen activity tracker with inbuilt Elevate wrist heart rate technology. Elevate is Garmin’s proprietary technology which keeps track of your pulse continuously and shows it on the display 24/7. In addition it tracks, the usual activity, including steps taken, calories, distance, floors climbed and sleep patterns.
The fitness tracker has a large sunlight readable display that always on. It shows notification when paired with a compatible device like calls, texts, email, calendar and social alert. You can also control your music directly from the band. It will also alert users when they have been inactive for too long and also send a signal to help locate their smartphone when they’ve misplaced it
There is also a feature called "Active Intensity" which measures using Intensity Minites, so users can keep track on the progress made against the goals of weekly aerobic activity.
It comes 5 ATM water rating making it waterproof for up to 50 meters and offer five days of battery life on a single charge.
The Garmin Vivosmart HR is priced at $149 and will be available from November 1. It comes in Black, Purple and Blue color.
Garmin also outed an Index Smart Scale, which can measure your body weight along with body mass index, water percentage, muscle mass, body fat percentage and bone mass. It is WiFi enabled and integrates with the Garmin Connect app on your smartphone. With the app, you can track your measurements and store them. It can be used by all family members as it can store up to 16 users at a time.
