Bluboo XFire 2, a $60 smartphone with metal body, fingerprint sensor


Chinese smartphone maker Bluboo has announced a new smartphone, the XFire 2 that comes with a fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner technology is limited to smartphone in the Rs. 10,000 and up price segment, however, the XFire 2 is priced just at $60 that is about Rs. 3,999, making it the cheapest smartphone in the market to comes with this technology.

By comparison, home grown manufacturer, like Lava, Intex, Karbonn, Micromax comes with very poor specs at the said price. In fact few come with 512MB RAM and storage.

As for the specs, the Bluboo XFire 2 sports a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass. The body is made out of metal and has a thin arc design. Under the hood there  is1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6580 processor further aided by Mali 400 GPU and 1GB RAM. On-board storage is 8GB, which can be increased up to 32GB via microSD card. In runs Android 5.1 Lollipop.

For photography, the XFire 2 is equipped with 5-megapixel auto-focus rear camera (interpolated to 8-megapixel) accompanied by LED flash and 2-megapixel (interpolated to 5-megapixel) front snapper with LED flash as well for clicking selfies. The fingerprint sensor sits below the rear camera which has a square shape with rounded corners.

On the connectivity front, the phone supports, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS. It comes in single-SIM and Dual-SIM variant, unfortunately there is no 4G support. The XFire 2 is fueled by 2150mAh battery.

The Bluboo XFire 2 single SIM and dual SIM variant is up for pre-order at Gearbest. The dual SIM variant will set you back by $74 (Rs. 5,000). Shipping starts from February.
