HP Sprout Pro is a 23-inch AIO PC that brings 3D scanning to classroom

HP has launched an enhanced version of its Sprout computer called the Sprout Pro aimed at business and education markets. For reference, in 2014, HP launched the Sprout, a 23-inch all-in-one PC meant for product designers. It included an overhead projector that projected 2D and 3D objects to a touch-sensitive mat that sits on the desk in front of the PC.

The HP Sprout Pro features a 23-inch Full HD display with support for 10-point touch. It is equipped sixth-generation Intel Core i7-6700 processor with NVIDIA GeForce GT945A (1GB GDDR5) GPU and 8GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (expandable to 16GB). It comes with 1TB SATA solid state hybrid drive with an 8GB flash drive and runs Windows 10 Pro.

Other features include 1-megapixel webcam, HP Illuminator, built-in projector that is equipped with up to 14.6-megapixel camera, and Intel RealSense 3D camera to capture 2D and 3D objects. For wireless connectivity there is 10/100/1000 Base T-Network, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n with dual band 2x2 MIMO technology. There are 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x USB 3.0 ports and a 3-in-1 card reader.

The Touch Mat is of 20-inch on which real objects can be scanned or projected. For instance, a real object like a mug can be scanned into Sprout, after which a 3D representation of it is displayed on the screen. The 3D models can be turned, reshaped, colored or cropped via hand on the Touch Mat. The mat also acts like a second monitor as well as a virtual keyboard. Also included is a Adonit Jot Pro Stylus to write and draw.

It comes with a range of apps that include Sprout Companion for Skype for Business, HP External Display Mixer (share what's on Sprout dual screen, video from the webcam, or downward facing camera-or all at the same time), HP Scan (for professional-level document scanning) and HP Magnifier (replaces a document camera and allows users to share live physical objects or documents with an audience, including zooming and capture)

The HP Sprout Pro prices start at $2,199 (Rs. 1,50,000) and will be available in select regions in February.
