HP announces $199 Chromebook 11 G4 Education Edition


HP's latest Chromebook is a rugged lightweight laptop designed for use in classrooms. The HP Chromebook 11 G4 Education Edition (EE) has a spill-resistant keyboard and rubber edges that help it withstand 70cm drop. It has also passed MIL-STD testing.

The HP Chromebook 11 G4 EE sports a 11.6-inch that has 1366 x 768 pixels resolution and is powered by an Intel Celeron N2840 Bay Trail processor. It can be configured with up to 4GB RAM and 32GB storage, but the 4GB RAM model will get an hour less battery life. As it is a Chromebook it runs Chrome OS.

There is an HDMI port, USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 ports and a SDXC card reader. For wireless connectivity there is WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and 4G LTE (optional). It also has hinge that can bend 180 degrees, which means the Chromebook can be laid completely flat. Battery life has been rated at around 9.5 hours.

The HP Chromebook 11 G4 EE prices start at $199 and will be available in the U.S this month.
