Samsung launches Gear S2, Gear S2 Classic in India


Samsung has launched Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic smartwatches in India. The Gear S2 comes in Dark Grey color with Silver case and sporty band and Gear S2 classic comes with a Black case with leather band.

The Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic run on Samsung's home grown Tizen based wearable platform and sports a display with rotating bezels that allows users to scroll, zoom in/out and more. They also have home and back button to access apps and notifications.

Samsung's Gear S2 range sports a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display with 360 x 360 pixel resolution (~302ppi) and is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. They are IP67 certified for dust and water resistant.They also features an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, ambient light sensor, and barometer. The smartwatches are backed by a 250mAh battery that supports wireless charging.

For fitness enthusiasts, the Gear S2 smartwatches offer tracking daily activity like water and caffeine intake, measuring your pulse, steps, calories and more.

They connect with compatible devices (Samsung device running Android 4.3 and above, non-Samsung devices running 4.4 or above, and having atleast 1.5GB RAM) via Bluetooth 4.1 LE, and offer NFC support for mobile payments.

The Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic are priced at Rs. 24,300 and Rs. 25,800 respectively, and will be available from Samsung retail stores and exclusively from Flipkart starting today. Samsung will also be offering several band options for the Gear S2 smartwatches, which will be sold separately. The latest 18K Rose Gold and Titanium variants that was introduced at CES will be released in the country by end of February.
